Moin Alex! Can a Java Developer stay productive without an office? Alex shares his setup.

Let’s start at the roots—how long have you been part of the NBRX journey?

I’ve been here since the very beginning, starting back in 2020.

Six years and counting! So what are your responsibilities at NBRX?

Currently, I’m focused on developing Java software for the Energy Manager project.

What is your working language, and how long have you been speaking it?

It’s a mix of German and English. I picked up German when I moved here around 2016, so I’ve been navigating that for a decade now. English goes way back—I started learning it in school in 2004, which blows my mind because that’s nearly 22 years ago!

Oh wow… 2004? That’s literally the year I was born. Moving swiftly on before we both feel older! Let’s talk tech stack. Which tools can you absolutely not live without? Which tools are indispensable for your work?

I’m a bit of a minimalist when it comes to my daily drivers. Give me my Windows desktop, VS Code for writing clean code, and Git Extensions to manage our repositories without tearing my hair out.

Do you prefer working from home or in the office?

I am firmly on Team Remote. Don't get me wrong, the occasional drive to the office is a nice change of pace and it’s great to see Samuel in person. But honestly? I feel more productive, focused, and significantly less exhausted at the end of the day when I'm working from my home setup.
